Sharyn McCrumb is an author who has written a lot of books based on the tri-state area of Western North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Some of these books are modern times clashing with older times . Some of her books are about the race car circuit. There are some based on true historical events that she uses real names and out of the court ledger decisions but are still fiction because she has private conversations which no way she was privy to. Two that come to mind are her book about Tom Dooley (hang down your head Tom Dooley) and the trial of Mickey Silver. Mickey was the first woman to be trialed and hung by the law of North Carolina. McCrumb has a new book coming out in September that I am eager to read. The name of it is KING'S MOUNTAIN. It is about the Revolutionary War battle on King's Mountain, North Carolina. My g-g-g-g grandfather William Trammell lost his arm in that fight - it was sliced off during and to hand combat. I have read a couple books about King's Mountain and now I want to see Sharyn McCrumb make a "stab" of it.
