Throwback Thursday: I
remember these windows and door well. It
was the ticket office of the Marietta Railway Office where one would buy train
tickets. Now it is the Marietta Welcome
and Visitors’ Center. The late Van
Calloway and I, In our preteen years many days after playing hide-‘n-seek in
the halls and rooms-for-rent next door at the Kennesaw House we would come here
to see his father who was a ticket window representative for the Railroad, and
Van would beg for money to go see a movie at the Strand.
Van died in the 1990s.
He was a diabetic. For diabetic
medical needs they amputated Van’s leg.
The wrong leg. He died.
