Throwback Thursday.
Chinese say this is the year of the Pig
Recently when I heard it was the Chinese New Year it
reminded me of a few years ago when we saw an ad in a publication for a Chinese
Restaurant, “Come and celebrate Chinese New Years with us!” Illustrated were balloons floating, streamers
shootings, music note symbols, and fire crackers saying boom! More importantly it said buy one meal and get
the second of equal or lesser value free.
We decided we would join the fun and go to their New Years
Party. I imagined everybody there lined
up with each with the hands on the hips of the person in front of them, and
covered with a long dragon cover and us dancing all around the restaurant like
a long train with us all giggling, popping campaign corks, and every body
singing off key – man! It was going to
be a ball!
Especially that two dinners for the price of one part.
The night of the Chinese
New Year we went to the restaurant.
Which was on the corner of Highway 92 and Bells Ferry Road. When I realized where it was I was going to
tell them my Hunter, Tyson, and Huey ancestors lived on three of the corners
and Anna’s Kuykendall ancestor lived on the 4th corner. They would oooh and ahh over that I bet.
Surprisingly, we were the only customers. With the coupon we got two meals for the price of one.
A little naked boy toddler kept peeking at us behind a
partly opened kitchen door..
Not even a firecracker.
Another disappointment.
If we had waited a couple of weeks we would not be
disappointed because of dullness. About
two weeks after we were there, in the restaurant, a dope deal went bad and there was a shoot-out. One person was killed
and two were wounded.
