This is
Fumetti. Fumetti is much like your
Sunday Funnnies, except instead of an artist illustrating the story there is a
photographer and a cast of live and humans.
They are in panels and speak in balloon language, just like the funnies.
Harvey
Kurtzman, editor of HELP Magazine tried the Fumetti format of picture
telling in the 1860s and I think it sort
of fizzled, but I hear it got to be popular in Europe.
The star of
this story is Russ Heath, one of the best artists for MAD for a time.
As always,
click on the picture so you can you can read the balloons and make it bigger and
prettier.
Innovative or not, the story is kind of pointless.
