Once when I was late to school at MHS because the alarm did not go off, Lloyd Cox told me, "That's a reason but not an excuse". Then he dealt out my punishment. That logic has stayed with me all these years. Dr. Loy Carpenter was a nice man. He was my first dentist. One particular experience caused me to fight going to the dentist while I was growing up. I was having a tooth filled one day. He had the old fashioned leather belt driven drill. The drill bits were a bit larger back then. The drill bit broke and went into my cheek. ...took me a while to build up confidence again.
Skip, That is a good quote. Dr. Carpenter was my first dentist too. I remember one time he was working in my mouth, for what I forgot, and I remember he was clinching a cigar in his mouth. You don't see that any longer.
