The Varner's ad here has been studied and scrutinized in the past ten months. I bet not as many people looked at it in 1956 as people did in 2009.
Remember the old Johnson Tire Service building? Here it is to jolt your memory. I worked next door at the Big Apple Grocery Store and every Saturday evening Mrs. Stocks (her and her husband owned Johnson Tire Service) shopped at the Big Apple. Then she expected a sack boy to help her with the cart down to the tire service. She was a lousy tipper. However, none of us mind carrying her groceries down the street - whichever of us made the trip down got to take his time and smoke on the way back.
