Did Shore Parol in Norfolk many, many years ago. Conflicts between jar heads and swab jockeys were constant. But let a trench rat or tread head come in and they cooperated fully.
Si, Darn! I just remembered the time we were snowed in and couldn't get off the base and we had words with a bunch of Marines at the E.M. Club. One of them clobbered my friend Don that pretty much settled the argument we were having. Don proudly had a black-eye... hit by a Marine!
