Blockbuster's Videos By Mail
We recently started a subscription with Blockbuster movie mail deal. It seems fair enough. You give them a list of movies that you would like to see, and they will send the top prioritized on the list, based on availability. When they receive one from you they will send the next highest available one your list.
Plus you are allowed to swap out at the Blockbuster store twice a month. Anything over twice a month at the store costs you a dollar and something each time.
It costs about $10 a month. As the prices now go now, you would have to watch over 3 movies a month to have come out ahead of the game - and then, you would only be saving money if you normally rented at least three movies anyway. Which we probably average at least three.
We are learning as we go. It seems to be mostly okay, except for one last week we mailed in and it took longer than expected for them to receive it. They have a branch in Atlanta so we sort of expect one day service. I think it took 3 or 4 days on this one incident. I don’t know if it was their fault or the Postal Services (they get more than their share of blames of things “getting lost in the mail”).
We jokingly rate the movies we just finished watching: It either kept us awake or it didn’t.
Could be interesting if you just post monthly lists of titles you're watching.
ReplyDeleteThe Netflix site has a horizontal scroll with a visual of every film I've received from them over years.
Some of these I've completely forgotten I ever watched them. Is my memory fading or were they just minor forgettable movies?
Bhob,
ReplyDeleteYou are right. We were trying to recall the three or four movies we saw last week and couldn't remember but one of the titles. I don't think Blockbuster keeps a list of what you saw. If I read it correctly, it only keeps a list of what you want to see. And they recommend you have at least 30 listed.
Luckily I keep a list in my Word journal, which is indexed, so it lists the movie alphabetically.
