Today in England it is Box Day.
Box Day is the first day after Christmas and the day the upper crust people give gifts to the people that work for them - the working class.
We don't celebrate Box Day in America. It is just too much politically incorrect.
* I have no idea why they call it Box Day.
Hey now and Happy Boxing Day!
ReplyDeleteIt's celebrated in Canadia as well and is about boxing up all the trash from xmas gifting - wrapping paper, tox boxes, etc. In other words; originally the stuff those Lordies gave to their Servants.
Fun stuff! :)
Michael,
ReplyDeleteOh-ho!
I knew it was called Boxing Day from our days of living in England, but couldn't remember the reason for the holiday.
ReplyDeleteI found this at Snopes. I thought it was interesting.

Janie,
ReplyDeleteThanks - I always like to learn something new, the only problem is that the new stuff pushes out the old stuff.
