I think ear pinching was a very effective tool, it didn't need to be hard, just a tweek, but it certainly got your attention. My Mom didn't spank or hit, but Grandma was a master ear tweeker. She also had a look that could bend steel.....
Nea, My mother would say "I am going to tell your father when he gets home." Which made me stop whatever I was doing that wasn't so nice. I would rather walk on hot coals than have a comfrontation with my father. He was so easy going, laid back, yet, when duty calls he threw himself in a serious mode.
I hear that one was used a lot by mom's........ :):) It was never said in our house, NO DAD..... I had a man tell me once, I used to hate going home, I would come up the drive, and there would the wife be with a mean look on her face, and me supposed to dish out discipline, when I wasn't even mad. Poor guy. I guess he wished his wife could have done it.
My Mom worked, I seldom saw her, but my Grandma used to chase my brother around the kitchen table with a broom.....she never did catch him though. I thought it was the silliest thing I ever saw.
My grandmother lived with one of her daughers and the daugher's son (her grandson). The daughter worked, so the grandmother was the surreget mother. I always thought it was amazing how much she worried after him, afraid he might get hurt... but me, the exact same blood relationship, she had no interest in making sure I walked the line.
He doesn't look happy, does he? But then, none of them do...LOL
ReplyDeleteJudy,
